What will your day be like?
Morning
After disembarking the ship and going through the passport check, you’ll immediately see your smiling guide. Then, you and your party will be shown to a clean air-conditioned minibus.
Your tour will begin in St. Petersburg’s historical artery, Nevsky Prospect where you’ll have the opportunity to visit The Eliseyev Emporium. This ornate and kitschy food hall was one of the only places that was permitted to sell imported goods during the Soviet Union and still offers delicacies from around the world to this day. We will then continue our tour at some of the world most beautiful metro stops in the world (trust us, you won’t want to miss these!)
After a brief drive, we will arrive at the Peterhoff Fountain Park, there you will see the Grand cascade, the Samson fountain, secret “trick” fountains, Roman fountains, rotating “sun” fountain, and many more. During our tour of the Fountain park you will learn about the history of creation of Peterhoff and discover Peter the Great’s playful side.
Next, we will board a Hydrofoil, which will whisk us away to the dock in front of the royal family’s Winter Palace, on the Neva River.
From there, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, which is one of the most adored restaurants in the country, by locals and tourists alike.
Afternoon
After lunch, we’ll head over to recently opened Faberge Museum, where you will be able to appreciate the museum’s collection featuring the largest Faberge Easter egg collection outside of Moscow. You will be able to move around the museum independently and at your leisure with the help of an audio-guide- though your tour guide will still be available if you have any questions.
We will then move on to The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood*, where you’ll be in awe from its staggering mosaic-lined interior and dreamlike exterior.
A boat will be waiting for us just around the corner, where we will board and get to relax while enjoying the city’s architecture and its many unique bridges on a canal cruise.
By then, the midday rush at The Hermitage Museum will have subsided, and we will conclude our day with one of the largest and oldest museums in the world located inside The Winter Palace. Inside, we’ll tour incredible palace rooms and impressive galleries featuring world-famous masterpieces by da Vinci, Raphael, Rembrandt and others.
Walking across the gangway back to your ship, you’ll regret that you didn’t have more time to spend in St. Petersburg, but you’ll rest assured that you made the most of your time in port.
Note:
* Actual itinerary is contingent upon your day of arrival and the sites’ hours of operation. Substitutions will made only as necessary and your itinerary will be confirmed at least two weeks before your tour begins. These substitutions will be made as follows, due to the museums’ scheduled closures :
- On Mondays, The Hermitage Museum will be substituted with State Russian Museum.
- On Wednesdays, The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (interior) will be substituted with Kazan Cathedral, though you will still get to visit its exterior.
